Sponsors will frequently permit the value of volunteer time to be counted as a part of the University's matching commitments for a grant/contract.  This commitment of volunteer time must be (a) included in the proposal, and (b) approved by the sponsor.

Documentation of the volunteer time is to be accomplished using the and Volunteer forms.

These forms are to be completed by the project director and proposed volunteer.

• The V-Pre form indicates the intended time commitments of the volunteer and is to be submitted to Human Resources prior to use of the volunteers to ensure that they are not currently employed by the University to perform the same or similar functions.
• The V-Post form indicates the time actually spent by the volunteer and is to be submitted to the Office of Sponsored Research and Programs Office for processing.
