From the Grants Management System

SPIN Matching And Research Transmittal Service (SMARTS) is an electronic matching and funding opportunity notification system which provides investigators with a direct and targeted electronic link to comprehensive, current, and available national and international research funding information. Terms like  agricultural economics, child abuse/neglect, knowledge management, and teacher education, are among the  thousands in the SPIN Thesaurus that can be used to keep up-to-date on funding opportunities in specific areas of interest. See SMARTS brochure (PDF) for additional information.

SMARTS Module

SMARTS as an electronic matching and funding opportunity notification system, provides investigators with a direct and targeted electronic link to comprehensive, current, and available research funding information - both nationally and internationally. The investigator profile information is collected via forms in GENIUS and used for matching with the SPIN database. Matching is conducted on a daily basis and programs are automatically emailed to individual researchers.

Find Funding
Upon entering the Portal, and selecting Find Funding, the user may select to access either SPIN or SMARTS.

Instructions on the use of SPIN are detailed in the software Help file. The above instructions focus on the setup and use of SMARTS matching. Because Missouri State university subscribes to SMARTS, you will be able to access the SMARTS portion of Find Funding. Contact OSRP (SponsoredResearch@missouristate.edu or 417-836-5972) for further details on using either SPIN or SMARTS. (see image below).
