Missouri State University received $20,901,035 from a total of 196 grants and contracts awarded to faculty and staff during 2009-10. Compared to the previous year, there was a 7 percent decrease in funds awarded. It should be noted that some of these awards are for projects that extend over more than one year, but the formal commitment for funds is only for the current project year.
While Federal and State agencies continue to be the leading source of grants and contracts with funding, non-profit organizations, county/city agencies, and international organizations showed significant increases over FY 2008, despite a sluggish economy
Three of the academic colleges exceeded $1 million in annual award funding with the College of Natural and Applied Sciences leading the way with 104 awards totaling $5,541,468 during FY 2009. The other colleges were College of Education ($2,056,993), and College of Health and Human Services ($2,173,259). The Office of Research and Economic Development received 43 awards totaling $4,611,226. The College of Natural and Applied Sciences was the most productive submitting 155 grant proposals and receiving 104 awards totaling $5,541,468.
