Budget Categories and Formulas

When a funding agency does not provide a budget format, the following categories are recommended.

Categories:

• Personnel Salary (9 month or 12 month)
• Fringe Benefits
• Travel
• Equipment (>= $5000)
• Supplies
• Contracts/Consultants
• Other
• Direct Costs
• Indirect Costs (42% of Salary and Fringe)
• Training Stipends

If the sponsor does not require the use of specific forms you can click on OSRP's Generic Budget Form. OSRP staff will assist PIs in developing the budget as well as a budget justification.
