Materials and Supplies
Items required for Projects
Consumable items required for the project (laboratory supplies, e.g. chemicals, test tubes; books; computer software; diskettes; paper and writing materials, etc.) are requested under this category. Costs for printing reports, as well as telephone and fax charges, also can be included.Equipment
If equipment is requested, the PI should
- show that the equipment is essential to the project,
- show that the equipment is unlikely to be funded by the department in its regular program,
- determine that the equipment is not available for use elsewhere on campus, and
- describe possible continued uses for the equipment upon completion of the project.
Materials/Supplies/Services
All items requested should be itemized to the extent possible. The applicant must show clearly how the items requested will contribute directly to the proposed project. Applicants seeking funding for copying, postage, or other services can explain why those services would not be available from the department.
