Office of Sponsored Research and Programs
These are grants, contracts, or other agreements between Missouri State University and an external sponsor that are separately budgeted and accounted for and are administered by the Offices of Sponsored Research and Programs and Financial Services.
Categories of sponsored agreements include federal research contracts, grants cooperative agreements, industrial and private contracts, memorandums of agreement, and/or other funds for designated research, training, or instruction purposes.
A Research Project is a systematic, intensive study intended to increase knowledge or understanding of the subject studied, a systematic study specifically directed toward applying new knowledge to meet a recognized need, or a systematic application of knowledge to the production of useful materials, devices, and systems or methods, including design, development, and improvement of prototypes and new processes to meet specific requirements. Also termed “research and development.”
Service Projects are classified as support of services provided by funds restricted by the donor, terms of an agreement, or which are separately budgeted and accounted for by the University.
Types of activities include sponsored programs for technical assistance, intergovernmental personnel agreement, community services, health services, field extension service projects.
OSRP will assist investigators in developing sponsored agreements.
