Facilities and Administrative (F&A) Costs (formerly known as Indirect Costs)

Facilities and Administrative Costs, are costs that refer to those incurred for common or joint objectives and therefore cannot be identified readily and specifically with a particular sponsored project (OMB Circular A-21).   (Opens in a new window)

The University's F & A costs are based on the total personnel costs (salaries, wages, and fringe benefits) at the following rates:

                    On campus:          42.0 %
                    Off campus:          13.8 %

The negotiated rate has been approved by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services from July 1, 2008 through June 30, 2010.

See Missouri State's facilities and administrative costs agreement (2008 Revision) (PDF document).

See the Grants and Contracts Office for further information.
